So soon such temperatures

It's unbelievable, what a temperatures for February! I believe it was today about 14 degrees, and at the weather report they said it was a record. I've made some lovely walks outside and spring is just popping out of the ground. Little snowflakes and crocus are blooming and the tulips are also coming. You can't make me more happy!

Yesterday we visited the Handwerkfair in Zwolle. It was a nice fair and there where loads of exhibitors. I've bought some sockyarn and a knitting kit and a kit for making a small felt figure.

Hope you'll have a lovely Sunday and I will talk to you soon,

Rain outside

I hope you'll had a lovely weekend! I know this is not a weather report but Saturday was a very windy day and Sunday was horrible. It rained the whole day. It was grey and miserable. I have the feeling that whatever day it is and whatever weather it is, some fresh air from outside is healthy. So I made a short walk in the rain on Sunday but it didn't support my mood in a positive way. I love winter when it is fresh and cold with some sun in the sky, but if days are like past Sunday I'm truly longing for spring to come.
But talking about spring, I spotted some crocus in the grass! And the weather forecast said it would be 12 degrees on Friday, hurray!

The photo above shows my Fern & Feather sweater who needs some finishing. The sleeves aren't finished yet and the hem needs a ribbing. But I'm also working on a shawl for my mother so it has to wait a bit.
I hope you'll have a lovely week, speek to you soon!

The small animal farm

Aren't they pretty?
Last weekend when we made a walk we came across this small animal farm. We stood watching and the man and his dog beside us gave the deers some bread.  The dog tried to impress one of the deers but she made some jumps to make the dog silent again...
We've had some snow the last days, but now it's all back to grey and rainy weather. But I saw in the garden some bulbs popping up their first green sprouts of new life.
I've been knitting a little bit (not so much) and finished my Mittens from Skeindeer knits. But I have to sew in the threads so a photo will follow soon. And I'm working on a shawl for my mother...I'm gonna try to finish it this week or next week.

Hope you'll have a lovely weekend (one day to go), will be back you soon,

Frozen landscape

Hello to you all,

It's been a mild winter until now. We've finally got rid of this horrible rainy grey weather and we got a frozen landscape with sun in return. It looked so pretty when I woke up this morning. Yesterday I made a walk to make some photo's of the ice. Our cat tried to sniff some air when I opened the door today and she made a very short walk outside, but I don't think she will leave her warm bed anymore today.

Last week I finished some socks. They are very funky. It's yarn from Schachenmeyr, the collection that Arne & Carlos designed for the brand.  You get two almost identical socks. I'm not used to such a large cuff, but I think they are fun so I will wear them today to keep my feet warm.
I also ordered a couple of new books from the Pinguin classic collection, aren't they pretty? They are clothbound and look wonderful.

I hope you'll have a lovely Sunday!

Happy new year!

Happy and healthy new year to you all and I hope you all had a lovely Christmas!

The festive days flew by and it was nice to have some relaxing and crafting time. I like December with all the cosy decorations and festive days and January seems always cold and a grey'ish' month compered to December.

I finished some Christmas socks almost in time and they are keeping my feet warm this holiday. I've been working a bit on my fern & feather sweater and I made my brother a colorwork hat. Sadly the weather is mostly grey and rainy and mild, so not really weather to wear a Shetland wool hat, but you know..maybe some colder days might come.

On Newyearsday we went for a walk in Workum and visited the beach. So many surfers..

I will write here soon again,

It should be all about pink socks

It's such a rainy day today, great weather for some handknitted warm socks. We're in December now, unbelievable how fast time can go. I do love the summer and being outside and although you can wear your knitwear and handmade winter clothes this time of the year, I don't like it when the daylight turns so fast into darkness again. But December is a special month with christmaslights everywhere to give us some extra light in winter. I started knitting these socks on my way back from Denmark last summer and then they where in there bag, unfinished for a long time, but last week I knitted the last bit and they are finished now! I dyed the yarn myself and I'm very happy with the result.

And if you would like to see more knitwork, crochet or sewing I'm working on, I've started a small Youtube channel (see link in the right sidebar). I felt a little bit uncomfortable talking to my screen but it seemed fun to me to get out of the blog comfortzone and start a little podcast. I will upload once in a couple of weeks a new video, so I hope you'll like it.

Have a happy week, talk to you soon,
